The Pepperdine men's golf team shot the low round of the day, carding a 4-over par 292, to finish play with a 9-over par score of 861 and place second at the Arizona State Invitational that concluded Saturday at the par-71, 7,025-yard Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Arizona.
The Waves finished the tournament two shots behind UNLV, which totaled a 7-over par score 859. Host Arizona State (869) was second followed by Arizona (871) and UCLA (873).
Arizona's Kipp Riehle, playing as an individual, claimed individual medalist honors after shooting rounds of 69-69-68 for a 7-under par score of 206 and a six-shot victory over teammate Nathan Lashley (212).
Senior All-Americans Brian O'Flaherty and Michael Putnam were among a group of five players who tied for sixth with 1-over par scores of 214. O'Flaherty turned in rounds of 71-68-65 while Putnam produced rounds of 67-75-72.
Pepperdine returns to action on Monday when it opens play at the West Coast Conference (WCC) Championships at the Saddle Creek Golf Course in Copperoppolis, California.
