Senior All-American Michael Putnam carded a final-round 1-under par 70 to finish fifth at the USC Ashworth Collegiate Invitational that concluded Tuesday at the par-71, 6,742-yard North Ranch Country Club in nearby Westlake Village.
Putnam finished the tournament with a 54-hole score 1-under par 212 after shooting rounds of 74-68-70 for a 212 total.
Georgia Southern's Aaron Price claimed individual medalist honors with a 10-under score of 203. Price shot a second-round 7-under 64 on Monday that put him in control of the tournament and enabled him to post a five-shot victory over Tennessee's Ross McGowan.
Washington's James Lepp placed third at 3-under 210 and BYU's Ron Harvey, Jr. finished fourth with 2-under total of 212.
Tennessee captured the team title with an even-par 852 total to post a two-shot win over second-place BYU. Host USC (861) was third and was followed by Georgia Southern (865), California (870), Washington (878), Stanford (880) and Pepperdine finished eighth with a 31-over par total of 883.
Pepperdine is next in action on Sunday, March 13, when it opens play at the General Jim Hackler Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
