Waves Close Road Schedule this Weekend

In the midst of a dogfight in the West Coast Conference (WCC) standings, the Pepperdine women's basketball team will look to snap the nation's longest active win streak this weekend when it takes on Gonzaga (Thursday) followed by the final regular season road game on Saturday against Portland.

Pepperdine (9-13) currently sits in a third place tie in the WCC with a 5-4 league record. Jennifer Lacy continues to lead the Waves and the WCC in scoring at 17.4 points per game, while Daphanie Kennedy is second on the team at 10.2.

Gonzaga (20-2, 9-0 WCC) boasts the conference's Player of the Month in Ashley Burke and reigning Player of the Week in Shannon Mathews. Both Bulldog players average over 10 points a contest and have lifted the `Zags to 16 consecutive victories, including a 71-54 edge against Pepperdine in the team's first meeting on Jan. 15 in Malibu.

Portland (6-16, 1-8 WCC) is eighth in the conference with its lone win coming at the expense of San Francisco in the two team's first meeting of the season.

The Waves will close out the 2004-05 regular season with three home games starting on Feb. 17 against Santa Clara before heading to the WCC tournament on March 3.
