Freshman Michael Baird shot a second-round 3-under par 69 on Thursday and is currently tied for 10th place after two rounds of the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate being contested at the par-72, 6,814-yard Waikoloa Village Golf Course in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
Oklahoma State leads the tournament after 36 holes with a 42-under par score of 534 and holds an eight-shot lead over second-place Washington (542). USC (543) is third and is followed by Georgia Tech (546) and Arkansas (550).
Pepperdine has posted rounds of 276 and 279 to place eighth with a 21-under par total of 555. The Waves were also in 10th after Wednesday's first-round action.
Individually, the Cowboys hold the top three sports and two rounds and Tyler Leon holds a one-shot lead over teammate Ryan Posey and a two-shot advantage over Alex Noren. Leon carded rounds of 64-66 to post a 14-under par total 130.
Baird opened with a 6-under 66 on Wednesday before shooting a 69 on Thursday to tie five other players for 10th place at 9-under par scores of 135.
Senior All-American Michael Putnam is tied for 19th with a 7-under par score of 137.
The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes on Friday.
