The Pepperdine women's basketball team went 4-3 during the first half of West Coast Conference (WCC) play despite only having one home stand during the month of January. For the second go-around, the Waves will play five of seven at Firestone Fieldhouse including this weekend's tilts against San Francisco and San Diego.

Pepperdine (8-12) finds itself in the middle of a dogfight for the leagues No. 2 seed at the conference tournament with Santa Clara and Loyola Marymount. The Waves are coming off back-to-back victories for the first time this season after dropping both the Broncos and Lions at their respective gyms. Jennifer Lacy continues to pace the Pepperdine offense averaging a league-best 19.3 points a game in WCC action. The surprise of the second season has been the play of true-freshman Daphanie Kennedy. The Oakland, Calif., native is accounting for 15.6 points in WCC play, which ranks third in the league.

USF (9-11, 3-4 WCC) is right on the Wave's heals after posting back-to-back wins last weekend. Dominique Carter was tabbed WCC Player of the Week for her efforts in the Don's victories. USF won the first meeting this season between the two squads moving the all-time series to 22-21, Pepperdine.

San Diego (7-13, 2-5 WCC) has dropped its last three contests and sits in sixth place in the conference standings. The Waves opened WCC play with a win over USD at Jenny Craig Pavilion on Jan. 6 making Julie Rousseau the first Pepperdine women's basketball coach to win their WCC opener.

Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. (PT) on Thursday and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
