Wright State bests BYU for Third Place

Malibu, Calif. - Wright State (6-5) capitalized on 22 Brigham Young (6-4) turnovers to defeat the Cougars 64-56 Tuesday in the consolation game of the Hilton Woodland Hills Beach Classic.

WSU was led by Jeanette Woodberry's 21 points and Brittney Whiteside's 17 points, six rebounds and six steals.

Offense hit a stalemate early in the game as the score sat at 7-7 for over three minutes. Points were again rare as the two teams combined for another offensive drought, this time lasting 3:18 with the score tied at 13.

Wright State built a seven point lead (26-17) by halftime and outscored BYU 38-37 in the second half.

After being down by as many as 13 in the second half, Brigham Young tied the game at 50 with under four minutes to play. The Raiders rallied behind 10-1 run to secure the victory and third place in the tournament.

The Cougars were led by Julie Sullivan's 12 points and Danielle Chessman's 12 boards.
