Malibu, Calif. - Vanderbilt (8-1) downed Brigham Young (6-3) in the tip-off game of the Hilton Woodland Hills Beach Classic, 86-47 at Firestone Fieldhouse. Dee Davis led all scorers with 21 as the Commodores built on their 15 point halftime lead by shooting 56.3% from the field in the second half.
Cherish Stringfield scored 16 off the bench for Vanderbilt, while Ashley Earley made four of five three-pointers to finish with 14 points.
The Cougars were led by Ambrosia Anderson's eight points.
The Commodores will face the winner of Monday's Wright State / Pepperdine match-up on Tuesday, time pending result.
