MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine's women's basketball team will tip off its final exhibition game Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (PT) in Firestone Fieldhouse against Playmode All-Stars. The game will serve as a final tune-up for the Waves who open the 2004-05 season at Fresno State on November 19 in Fresno, Calif.
Pepperdine dropped it first exhibition game of the season by a 60-48 margin last weekend. In the game, sophomores Teiosha George and Lauren Wenski paced the Pepperdine offense scoring 14 and 13 points, respectively, while senior Kelli Spencer pulled down a team-leading 10 rebounds.
The Playmode All-Stars are 1-1 heading into this weekend's contest having lost to Arizona and defeating Loyola Marymount. The game will be a homecoming of sorts as former Wave Tamara McDonald is a member of Playmode. McDonald was the 2003 West Coast Conference Player of the Year and led the Waves to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
The Four Points LAX Turkey Shootout (Nov. 26-27) will mark the home opener for the Waves. Pepperdine will play Cal State Fullerton on the first day of the tournament and will face either Montana or East Carolina on Saturday. Game times for both days will be 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. (PT).
