In their final meet before next week's West Coast Conference (WCC) Championships, the Pepperdine men's and women's cross country teams each finished in fifth place in their respective races at the Titan Cross Country Invitational run at the Cal State Fullerton Campus Course on Friday.
Freshman Lauren Morales led the women's team in the five-kilometer race placing 16th with a time of 18:37.3. Sophomore Tarrah Crowley turned in the next best performance for the Waves as finished 25th, clocking a time of 19:05.4.
UCLA captured the team title with 52 points while UC Irvine placed second with 75 points. UC Santa Barbara (77) was third followed by Cal State San Marcos (91) and Pepperdine (126).
In the men's eight-kilometer race, Pepperdine senior Louis Rich led the Waves with a 17th place finish with a time of 25:26.7. Freshman Brian Washburn was 27th with a time of 26:23.4.
Cal Coast TC won the team title with 25 points while UC Santa Barbara placed second with 60 points. Cal State Marcos (70) was third followed by UC Irvine (125) and Pepperdine (146.
Pepperdine travels to the Bay Area next weekend to compete in the WCC Championships at the Crystal Springs Course in Belmont. The men's eight-kilometer run is scheduled for 9 a.m. and women's five-kilometer is set for 9:45 a.m.
