Junior All-American Brian O'Flaherty fired a final-round 4-under par 68 to help lead the Pepperdine men's golf team to The Club Glove Intercollegiate title Tuesday afternoon at the par-72, 6,858-yard Saticoy Country Club in nearby Somis, California.
The Waves, who also captured the tournament championship a year ago, totaled an even-par total of 864 to finish seven shots ahead of runner-up Coastal Carolina and establish a tournament record for 54 holes.
Coastal Carolina finished second with a 7-over par score of 871 to place five shots ahead of SMU and Arizona State, who shot 2-over par scores of 876. Kent State placed fifth with an 877 total.
SMU's Colt Knost claimed individual medalist honors with a 4-under par total of 212 following rounds of 75-69-68.
Pepperdine senior All-American Michael Putnam and UC Irvine's Jay Choe tied for second with 2-under par scores of 214. Putnam was in the lead heading into the final hole but suffered a quadruple-bogey on the 18th to finish with a 77.
Coastal Carolina teammates Dustin Johnson and Moises Cobo along with SMU's Scott Abbott carded -under par scores of 215 to tie for fourth place.
Individually for Pepperdine, freshman Colin Wilcox tied for 11th with a 1-over par score of 217 while junior Alex Coe (13) tied for 13th, O'Flaherty tied for 23rd and freshman Michael Baird was among a group of four players tied for 33rd.
Freshman Jesse Barnsley, playing as an individual, tied teammate Wilcox for 11th.
Pepperdine is off until Monday, October 18, when it opens play at the Tennessee Tournament of Champions in Knoxville, Tennessee
