Amaka Uzomah is in her first year as Pepperdine women's basketball's assistant coach/director of basketball operations in 2023-24.
Uzomah comes to Pepperdine after nine years of coaching high school basketball at Horizon High School, located in Thorton, Colo. and two years of coaching the Lady RoughRiders AAU team. At Horizon High School, Uzomah helped develop two first-team all-state athletes and two second-team all-state athletes, while also helping the Hawks reach the Elite Eight of the CHSAA state tournament.
As a player, Uzomah started her collegiate career at Blinn Junior College before earning a Division I scholarship to play at Colorado State University. During her two years in Fort Collins, Uzomah led the Rams in rebounding, was the Mountain West’s leading rebounder in 2007-08 and recorded 78 total offensive rebounds during her junior season — the latter of which ranks eighth all-time at CSU. After college, Uzomah played for the BCB Basquete Clube de Barcelos, a team located in Portugal.
Uzomah graduated in 2009 from Colorado State, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science. She earned her MBA from Steven Henager College, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2014.
