Scott Rigot

Scott Rigot joined Pepperdine in April 2024 as an assistant men's basketball coach in Ed Schilling’s program. He enters his second season with the Waves in 2025-26.

In his first season in Malibu in 2024-25, Rigot helped lead the Waves to their first WCC Semifinal appearance in four seasons as Pepperdine won three consecutive games in the tournament, knocking off Portland, Oregon State and Santa Clara in consecutive days.

A seasoned assistant, Rigot's last NCAA stop came at Marshall where he spent eight seasons on the bench with head coach Dan D’Antoni, earning the program’s first postseason championship in the 2019 College Insider Tournament as well as an NCAA tournament berth and first round victory in 2018. He also helped coach the Marshall program that won the Conference USA title for the first time, beat multiple ranked teams for the first time in its history and had three players earn all-conference honors.

Rigot began his coaching career at South Carolina in 1987. Since then, his teams have seen the postseason 19 times– 10 of which were NCAA tournament berths. Prior to Marshall, he spent two seasons at Duquesne where he assisted in a 37-29 overall record and went to both the NIT and CBI. Rigot garnered five seasons under Tubby Smith at Kentucky, helping the Wildcats to the NCAA tournament in each season as well as training the likes of Rajon Rondo, Randolph Morris, Chuck Hayes and more. In fact, 15 of his former players have gone on to NBA success.

As a head coach at Spartanburg Methodist College (SMC) for six years, Rigot led his teams to a 158-35 overall record and several NJCAA tournament appearances including the 1995 NJCAA runners-up and a spot in the 1996 NJCAA final four. He is a member of SMC’s fall of fame for notching the all-time best win-loss record at the school.

Rigot is also known for his international recruiting and scouting, as he has worked with several European/International agencies for spotting talent.

Rigot began his playing career at Jamestown Community College, where he was part of a Jayhawks team that was ranked first nationally and participated in the 1982 NJCAA tournament. He then transferred to the University at Buffalo where he lettered in 1983-84 and '84-85. He completed his degree in sociology in 1986 and added a master's in education from South Carolina in 1988.

Married to Renee Rigot, Scott and his wife have two daughters– Natalie and Julianah.
