  • Title
    Director of Operations
Coaches Jon & Bryant

Jon Pastorek spent five seasons working with the Waves, including four as the men’s basketball team’s director of operations.

He joined the program as a graduate manager for the 2012-13 season before being elevated into the director of operations role a year later, and stayed at Pepperdine through the 2016-17 season. He earned a master’s degree in educational psychology from Pepperdine in May 2014.

Said head coach Marty Wilson at Pastorek's promotion in May 2013: "In one year, Jon really took on the challenges of his responsibilities in addition to being a full-time graduate student and completed them with a great sense of urgency. I know that he will continue to learn, grow and improve while helping our basketball program in many ways. He has been a perfect fit on our staff and I expect him to have a good future in the business."

Pastorek graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2011 with a degree in business economics and a minor in sports management. He played two seasons for the Gauchos, both of which resulted in Big West Conference titles and trips to the NCAA Tournament. He was team captain as a senior, when he played in all 32 games and started 14 while averaging 4.4 points and 4.1 rebounds.

Pastorek started his college career at San Diego State, and he played two seasons of basketball there (the Aztecs went to the NIT in 2007 and 2008) before transferring to UCSB.

After graduation, Pastorek was a substitute teacher in the Orange Unified School District and the head junior varsity volleyball coach and assistant varsity basketball coach at his alma mater, Canyon High School in Anaheim, Calif.

He has been a camp counselor at both UCSB and SDSU basketball camps.
