Women’s Soccer Sweeps Weekly Conference Awards

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pepperdine women's soccer (4-2-2) earned both the offensive and defensive player of the week after two shutouts, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Julia Quinonez secured her second offensive weekly honor while Ava Hartstein notched her first weekly honor of her collegiate career.
On the offensive side of the ball, Quinonez scored both game winners this week for the Waves, including her second brace of the season Sunday against Arizona. Leading the conference with a total of seven goals this season, the Torrance native is now up to eighth in the record book for all-time collegiate goals from a Wave. With all three of her shots this week finding the back of the net, Quinonez has accumulated a ridiculous .929 on-goal percentage this year. Through her four years, this is the senior's sixth weekly conference award.
Defensively, Ava Hartstein shined in her first two collegiate starts. Making her debut Thursday against Fresno State, the sophomore recorded six saves to secure a shutout. Playing the first half Sunday against Arizona, Hartstein arguably made the save of the match in the 11th minute, blocking a Wildcat penalty kick. Through 135 minutes of play, Hartstein has not let a goal in as she helped secure a 2-0 week for the Waves, including the first road win this season.
Coming up this week, Pepperdine takes a road trip south to face the Aztecs of San Diego State Thursday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the game available to stream on YouTube and live stats available at www.pepperdinewaves.com.
