Raymond Records 1,000th Assist as Women's Volleyball Sweeps Eastern Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Pepperdine women's volleyball team (5-3) got back in the win column with a 3-0 sweep of the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on Friday afternoon.
A successful afternoon didn't come without a career milestone for sophomore setter Tristen Raymond, who tallied her 1,000th career assist (1,046 total), putting her well on-pace to finish inside the top-10 in program history by the end of her collegiate career. Chloe Pravednikov stacked up 13 kills to lead the Waves offense, while Maggie Beauer added another 10.
"Nice bounce back win by the Waves with a great efficiency distributed by Tristen," said Head Coach Scott Wong. "Congrats to her for a thousand assists, with many more to come!"
In set one, Pepperdine faced an early 7-3 deficit before rallying behind a couple Pravednikov kills to take a 13-12 lead. Neither team could hold more than a two-point lead until late in the set, when Beauer obliterated a kill to knot it at 22 apiece. An attack error and a bad set by EKU helped Pepperdine take the set, as Laine Briggs put the dagger in with a service ace.
Set two was just as much of a nail-biter. The Waves got off to a little better start, going up a field goal at 6-3 following a kill from Pravednikov. Pepperdine stayed at an arms-length from the Colonels, getting a kill from freshman Mariia Nikol Dvornikova, going up 10-5 and in full control. The squads would trade off points until Eastern Kentucky ripped off a 5-0 run to square things at a baker's dozen. The blue and orange responded with a 5-1 run that was capped by an Ella Piskorz kill, and Pepperdine took back all the momentum with an 18-14 advantage. It didn't take long as the pendulum swung right back to EKU as the Colonels went on another 5-0 run which suddenly gave them the 19-18 lead. A seemingly never-ending game of runs continued as Pepperdine went on a 6-2 run and held a 24-21 set point. EKU came back with two straight points but a Beauer kill helped the Waves escape with a 25-23 set win and a 2-0 advantage.

It was a seesaw battle through most of the third set, but the blue and orange started to put its mark on the match with a 7-2 spurt getting into the later stages. Praednikov caught fire and notched three kills in that stretch, helping Pepperdine get ahead 20-15. GAME NOTES
- Eastern Kentucky held the advantage in kills (49-45), aces (4-1), assists (43-42), and digs (37-36)
- Pepperdine had a much better hitting percentage, .337 compared to EKU's .277.
- The Waves had a trio of players with 10 or more points (Beauer, 10.5; Piskorz, 11.5; Pravednikov, 14.5)
