MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine men's basketball head coach Griff Aldrich has announced the addition of junior guard Evan Haywood from Butler ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Haywood is a 6-4 guard out of Carmel, Ind., who played the past two seasons at Butler University in the BIG EAST.
"We are thrilled to welcome Evan into the Pepperdine Basketball family," said head coach Griff Aldrich. "Evan is a tremendous fit for our system as an excellent scoring guard who can impact the game in so many different ways. Having played in the Big East, Evan's experience and maturity will positively impact our program and we look forward to him joining us this summer!"
Haywood made 29 appearances with three starts for the Bulldogs in 2025-26, averaging 7.2 points per game while shooting 36 percent from three-point distance on the season.
His 55 makes from three were second on the team, while his 1.9 threes made per game ranked 13th in the BIG EAST. He made multiple triples in 16 games while scoring in double figures 10 times throughout the season.
As a freshman, Haywood made 23 appearances with two starts, while scoring in double figures twice in limited action.
Prior to Butler, Haywood was a finalist for 2024 Indiana Mr. Basketball after averaging 19.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game as a senior at Brebeuf Jesuit. He led Brebeuf to a No. 1 ranking in Class 3A, earning all-conference and All-Marion County honors in his final two high school seasons.
