Swim & Dive Finishes Sixth at MPSF Championships

EDINBURG, Texas – Pepperdine Swim & Dive wrapped up their fourth and final day of MPSF Championships today. The team scored 610 points en route to a sixth place finish.

"What a special weekend," said interim head coach Dan Marella. "Six school records, numerous best times, and finishing higher than we were projected going into the season. From the top to bottom, freshmen to seniors, everyone did their part. I have been so honored to lead such a wonderful group of women."

Two program records fell on the final day of competition. First, Amanda Wong capped off her Wave career with 187.20 points in the platform diving consolation finals. Then, Aliyah Fan, sisters Paige and Elliot Easton, and anchor Maile Sullivan swam to a history-setting time of 3:25.51 in the 400 free relay.

Who else but Aliyah Fan, who had quite the memorable week in Texas. She swam the third leg on the new 200 free relay time (1:32.76) and led-off the record-tying 800 free record (7:28.85). As the first swimmer to take the lap, her split of 1:51.02 also qualified for the 200 free individual record. This comes in addition to her sixth place finish in the 100 fly finals yesterday (54.72).

Another freshman that saw a top-ten finish in a finals event was Sophia Blietz. She earned eighth in the 200 back with a time of 2:02.80.
