ORADEA, Romania - Pepperdine water polo freshman Csanád Bella continues his dominant run with the U18 Hungary squad at the European U18 Championships in Romania.
Hungary concluded its group play schedule today with a 12-11 victory over Italy to improve to 3-0 for the tournament.
Bella added his seventh goal of the tournament in the fourth period, tying the match at 11 with 7:39 remaining before Hungary found the eventual game-winner with 3:23 to play.
Hungary finishes at the top of its group and is one of three nations to boast a perfect 3-0 record to earn nine points in the group along with France and Montenegro. Bella is one of the three Hungarians to have tabbed a goal in every game of the tournament, having scored a hat trick in each of the first two fixtures.
Bella and Hungary will await their opponent in Friday's quarterfinal pending results on Thursday. Hungary is slated for the third quarterfinal of the day on Friday at 9:00 a.m. PT.
The tournament will conclude with the championship match on Sunday following Saturday's semifinal round.

Pepperdine water polo has seen success spanning decades under Terry Schroeder who gave the reins to Merrill Moses following the 2023 season. Highlighted by its national championship in 1997 with Moses as the starting goalie, the Waves have reached the NCAA Tournament on 13 occasions and recently won the inaugural WCC Regular Season Championship in 2023.
