MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine women's soccer alumna
Tori Waldeck Zierenberg ('25) signed a professional contract with the Gainbridge Super League's Spokane Zephyr FC Thursday.
Â
"I'm super grateful and excited to be starting my professional career at Spokane Zephyr," Waldeck Zierenberg said. "This has been a dream come true and I can't wait to contribute to the club in any way I can. I am thankful for my time at Pepperdine and as a Wave. I wouldn't be the woman or soccer player I am today without all the love and support I got from my teammates and my coaches."
Â
Waldeck Zierenberg will be the fifth Pepperdine Wave to play in the Gainbridge Super League, formerly known as the USL Super League. She joins an illustrious list of former standouts, including
Trinity Watson, Carlee Giammona, Kelsey Hill and
Rylee Baisden — all of whom were active during the 2024-25 season.
Â
"I know I speak for all of us here at Pepperdine when I say we are so very proud and excited for Tori as she begins this new chapter of her soccer story," Pepperdine head coach
Tim Ward said. "She is a remarkable ambassador of Pepperdine University and our soccer program! I think anyone who has ever seen Tori play knows she has something a bit special about her and we can't wait to watch her shine on this new stage."
Â
One of the most productive offensive players in recent memory, Waldeck Zierenberg put together an impressive five-year career in Malibu. She was a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-West Region first team selection and the program's first two-time West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year award winner, winning the award in consecutive years. A quick forward with a knack for scoring game-winning goals, Waldeck Zierenberg made an immediate impact as a freshman by earning WCC All-Freshman Team honors in 2020 before going on to make the All-WCC First Team three times and the second team once.
Â
She graduated from Pepperdine ranked in several top-10 statistical categories, including career goals (38, third), points (96, third) and shots (226, fourth). Her 81 games started tied
Bri Visalli for the most ever in program history, while her 84 games played rank fourth.
Â
The Gainbridge Super League is a nine-team Division One soccer league in the United States. During Spokane Zephyr FC's debut season last year, the club boasted USL Super League Player of the Year Emina Ekić and Goalkeeper of the Year Hope Hisey and was one match away from making the USL Super League playoffs.
Â
Waldeck Zierenberg joins Hannah Seabert ('17) as the second Pepperdine women's soccer alumna to sign a professional contract this offseason.
