MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine baseball team was eliminated from playoff contention with Thursday's loss to LMU.

The Waves (12-40, 7-15) secured seven hits, but were unable to find a way around the bases more than once as the Lions (25-27, 12-10) had five productive innings as Pepperdine fell in eight innings 9-1.

Danny Cook (Monument, Colo) had the sole RBI of the afternoon with a double in the fourth inning.

Scoring in five of the eight innings, the Lions showcased a complete effort all game. After one, LMU took charge with a 2-0 lead. With no response from Pepperdine, LMU doubled the deficit in the fourth inning, making it a 4-0 visitor lead.

The Waves avoided the shutout, scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning as senior infielder
Julian Nunez (Encinitas, Calif.) scored on a double from Cook, making it a 4-1 game after five.

Pepperdine would not score again as the Lions took control, winning the game in eight due to the conference run rule 16-1.
