The Waves (12-39, 7-14) knocked three guys home in back-to-back innings to close the door on the Tigers' (20-32, 8-13) hope of a series sweep with six different Waves scoring.

Â
BIG WAVES
Â
Freshman infielder Danny Cook (Monument, Colo.) had a team-leading three RBIs, going .400 at the plate.
Â
Senior infielder Justin Rubin (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) scored three times today, also securing a stolen base.
Â
Graduate outfielder Nick Upstill (Huntington Beach, Calif.) led the Waves with three hits on the afternoon, hitting .600 with a swiped bag.
Â
RECAP
Â
In his first start for the Waves, graduate Lucien Wechsberg (Camarillo, Calif.) tied his season high with 2.0 innings pitched, with two hits and no runs allowed to kick off the game for Pepperdine. The offense was not able to capitalize on the defensive shutdown and through two, the game was still scoreless.
Â
The two squads exchanged a run in the third inning, with the Waves striking first. A lead-off double followed by an Upstill double scored one, matched by the Tigers in the latter half of the inning on one hit to make it a 1-1 ball game.
Â
Pepperdine took the lead back immediately in the fourth inning, scoring one on two singles to take the 2-1 advantage at the end of four.
Â
With the home team's most productive inning of the game, Pacific scored three in the bottom of the fifth on four hits, leaving the bases loaded but going into the dugout with a 2-4 lead.
Bringing the Waves one closer, redshirt freshman infielder Cal Wipf (Santa Barbara, Calif.) hit his first collegiate home run in the sixth inning to cut the Tigers lead to one. Pepperdine trailed 3-4 with three innings to go.
Â
With back-to-back productive innings, the Waves broke through and scored six on six hits, highlighted by a two-RBI single by Cook to give Pepperdine the initial 6-4 lead in the sixth.
Â
Pacific just had enough gas to get one back on the away team, dropping their final home game of the season as the Waves came out victorious 9-5.
