MALIBU, Calif. – Two Pepperdine men's golf alumni, Joe Highsmith and Sahith Theegala are set to compete at the 2025 Masters in Augusta, Ga. this week.
Â
This will be Highsmith's first time at Augusta and Theegala's third consecutive Masters appearance. It's also the first time that two Waves' alumni will compete in the same Masters tournament. Other Pepperdine alumni who have competed in the Masters include Kevin Marsh in 2006 and Andrew Putnam in 2020.

Â
Highsmith, who earned his first career PGA Tour win at the Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida earlier this season, is set to begin his first Masters at 5:13 a.m. PT on Thursday morning. His second round will start at 8:21 a.m. PT on Friday, and Highsmith will be paired with Zach Johnson and Chris Kirk for the first two rounds.

He also earned All-American status twice, made the All-WCC first team three times and was named the WCC Freshman of the Year after the 2018-19 season. He currently holds the fifth-best scoring average as a Wave with an impressive average of 71.45. Highsmith is also one of seven Waves to record a round of 9-under or better as he did so during the first round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in 2021.Â

Â
Theegala, who finished ninth at the 2023 Masters, will begin his 2025 tournament Thursday morning at 10:45 a.m. PT. His second round will start at 7:37 a.m. on Friday, and he'll be paired with Sepp Straka and Sam Burns on Thursday and Friday.

Â
As a Wave, Theegala garnered Pepperdine's first-ever National Player of the Year accolade and was the third three-time All-American honoree in program history. In his final season with the Waves, he won the Fred Haskins Award, Ben Hogan Award and Jack Nicklaus award, sweeping all major National Player of the Year honors in 2020. In four seasons, Theegala ended with the best scoring average (70.61) in Pepperdine history, a record he still holds.
