Stewart Earns WCC Pitcher of the Week

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Pepperdine baseball team's junior Dylan Stewart earned West Coast Conference pitcher of the week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

In his longest career start, the Alameda, Calif. native went a full 7.0 innings, letting in no runs and only giving up two hits while striking out six batters. On the junior's stellar start, the Waves secured the 4-1 win Saturday at San Francisco.

This is Stewart's first conference honor in his career and Pepperdine's second of the season. The first award was given to freshman outfielder Joey Damelio (San Mateo) April 7 after a stellar four games against UCLA and Santa Clara.

Stewart has been a part of the starting rotation all year, beginning the season as the Sunday starter on the mound. So far this year, Stewart has a 39-19 strikeout to walk ratio as well as an overall ERA of 5.68.
