MORAGA, Calif. — The No. 28 Pepperdine women's tennis team clinched a share of the West Coast Conference regular-season title with a 6-1 road win over Saint Mary's on Saturday afternoon.

The Waves (12-11, 5-1 West Coast Conference) beat the Gaels (6-13, 1-7 WCC) by taking the doubles point and winning five singles matches. The Gaels' lone point was a default due to injury on court six. With the win, Pepperdine tied San Diego with 5-1 records atop the conference standings; the Toreros lost their season finale against Washington State earlier this week. Pepperdine has won all 13 regular-season WCC titles since the league started awarding regular-season titles in 2012.

For the second-straight match, Pepperdine faced little resistance in doubles play. The Waves gave up just two games across all three matches and clinched the doubles point with wins at the top two positions. Freshmen Anastasiia Grechkina and Alexia Harmon won 6-1 over Olivia Rook and Iman Khan at the first position, while Sebastianna Scilipoti and Liam Oved shut out their opponents 6-0 on court two. 

Playing in their season finale, the Gaels showed some fight in singles play by pushing two matches to third sets. With the match tied 1-1 after a retirement due to injury on court six, the Waves quickly quashed the Gaels' upset hopes with straight-set wins on courts one, two and four. 

Sophomore Vivian Yang picked up another straight-set win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Iman Khan to extend her win streak to two matches, then No. 73 Anastasiia Grechkina dispatched Juliette Daries 6-0, 6-4 for her third win in conference play. Freshman Sebastianna Scilipoti clinched the match for the Waves with a 6-3, 7-5 win over MiaAngelina Ruja on court four.

The rest of the matches were played out, but Liam Oved and Alexia Harmon beat their opponents in the third set to wrap up Pepperdine's 6-1 win.

Pepperdine will be the 2-seed in the West Coast Conference Championships, held at San Diego State's Aztec Tennis Center from April 24-26.
