NEW CASTLE, Ind. — Pepperdine men's basketball head coach
Ed Schilling will be inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, announced this week by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors.
One of 18 inductees in the Hall of Fame's Class of 2026, Schilling will be inducted in a ceremony on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
"I am truly honored and humbled to be selected for the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame," said Schilling. "Having grown up and coached in a state renowned for its basketball legacy, I truly appreciate the significance of this recognition. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my teammates and coaches, the players that I've had the privilege to mentor, the administrators who placed their trust in me, and my family for their unwavering support. This achievement reflects our collective journey and the profound impact of so many individuals who have shaped my path."
Schilling is a graduate of Lebanon High School, and helped his teams to three sectional and three regional titles. His senior year saw him post averages of 9.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and a state-leading 8.0 assists for a 22-4 team. Schilling also played for Connersville as a sophomore, helping the team to a 21-4 record, before moving to Lebanon and tallying 8.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.7 assists as a junior for a 20-5 squad. He was 1984 AP high honorable mention All-State, 1984 UPI honorable mention All-State and played in the 1984 Thoroughbred Classic, a national all-star game in Lexington, Ky.
Schilling then headed to Miami University, where he set school records for assists in a career (629) and assists in a game (17 vs. Kent State on Feb. 4, 1987). He also totaled 474 points, 332 rebounds and is 10th in MU history with 148 steals in 104 games over four seasons for teams that went 66-51, won the 1986 Mid-American Conference regular-season title and played in two NCAA Tournaments.
He received the 1985 Miami University Arthur and Olga Adkins Award as program's newcomer of the year, was a two-year team captain and twice was recognized as Academic All-MAC and CoSIDA Academic All-District V.
Schilling has a 165-96 record in 11 seasons as a high school varsity coach with five sectionals, three regionals, three semi-states and two Class 2A state championships. That includes a 31-33 mark from 1988-91 at Western Boone, a 47-45 slate from 1991-95 at Logansport and an 87-18 ledger from 2009-13 at Park Tudor, where his teams won 2A state titles in 2011 and 2012 as well as the 2013 Marion County Tournament.
The 18 inductees will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 64th Men's Awards Banquet on March 18. A mid-day reception, free and open to the public, will be held earlier on March 18 at the Hall of Fame Museum in New Castle.
Schilling is in his second season as head coach for the Waves, who have begun the 2025-26 campaign with a 3-3 mark.
