Men's Basketball Returns Friday to Host Stephen F. Austin

MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine men's basketball (3-2) wraps up a four-game homestand Friday night, playing host to Stephen F. Austin (4-1) at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.

It's Country Music Night at Firestone Fieldhouse, with the first 100 fans in attendance receiving a free western themed t-shirt. Tickets are available for purchase here.

The Waves look to end the homestand with a 3-1 mark as a 4-2 overall start would be the best since the 2022-23 campaign.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Pepperdine picked up a 90-79 victory over New Orleans at home Tuesday night.
  • The Waves shot 25-for-28 from the free throw line while turning the ball over just six times compared to 17 from the Lumberjacks.
  • Javon Cooley scored a career-high 23 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
  • Cooley was 12-for-12 from the free throw line in the game.
  • Styles Phipps posted his second straight double-double with 14 points and 11 assists.

SERIES HISTORY
  • This marks the second-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • Pepperdine won the lone meeting in the series by a score of 77-53 on 12/11/1993.
  • The game was played at a neutral site in Waco, Texas, as part of the Dr. Pepper Invitational.
SCOUTING THE LUMBERJACKS
  • Stephen F. Austin enters with a 4-1 record, having played three contests already against teams that Pepperdine will face down the road.
  • The Lumberjacks suffered their first loss of the season last time out, falling 78-80 at Fresno State.
  • SFA had picked up double-digit wins over Millsaps, Arkansas State, Rice and Abilene Christian to begin the season.
  • Keon Thompson (20.2 PPG) and Patrick Lateef (18.2 PPG) have led the way so far for the Lumberjacks, combining for over 44-percent of the team's points this season.
  • SFA has shot from three at over a 40-percent clip to this point in the season while averaging 11 makes from distance per game.
The Waves will head to Palm Desert next for the Acrisure Series, taking on Fresno State at 4 p.m. Wednesday from Acrisure Arena on CBS Sports Network.

Pepperdine men's basketball has made 13 NCAA postseason appearances while earning 12 WCC Regular-Season Championships and three WCC Tournament Championships in its history. The program has also seen 19 All-Americans along with 19 NBA players, which included a streak of 34 consecutive seasons with at least one alum on an NBA roster from 1976-2011.
