Swim's last action came against Seattle, a dual meet that the Waves won 259-75. Aliyah Fan contributed to six victories, including three individually. Her time in the 100 fly (56.01) is now the second-fastest in program history.
Freshman Sophia Blietz had a strong performance as well in Seattle. She won the 200 back (2:02.17) and 200 fly (2:06.01). Both of these finishes netted her top-five slots in the Pepperdine record books.
This will be the Gauchos first non-invite event of the season. The women earned impressive finishes at the Pacific and Cal Baptist Invites. They are led by senior Samantha Banos, who earned three-straight Big West Athlete of the Week awards for her October performances. The Waves will face UC Santa Barbara for the sixth time, they are 0-5 against the Gauchos all-time.
The Tritons started their season slow, but since then have rattled off a trio of impressive victories against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Simon Fraser, and UC Davis. They have the reigning Big West Athlete of the Week in senior Chloe Braun. She recently notched an automatic qualifying time in the 100 breast (59.82) in what is a young season. UC San Diego boasts a 9-1 record against Pepperdine heading into Saturday. The blue and orange last notched a victory in 1988.
The three schools have joined forces for a November tri meet in each of the last three seasons.
Both UCs will also bring their men's teams to Pepperdine.
The divers return to action for the annual Trojan Diving Invitational—a three day event downtown spanning Nov. 20 through the 22nd. The swimmers next meet comes at the Northwest Collegiate Swimming Invitational in Boise, Idaho from Nov. 21 to Nov. 23.
