The Pepperdine women's basketball team lost to Pacific 58-43 Thursday night in Firestone Fieldhouse.
The Waves (7-10, 2-6) kept pace with the Tigers (10-10, 6-4) in the opening ten minutes, but single digits posted in the second and third quarter pulled Pacific out of reach for the remainder of the game.

Freshman
Chloe Sotell (Samford, Conn.) was the sole Wave in double digits with 10 points, collecting seven rebounds as well.
Senior
Emerita Mashaire (Helsinki, Finland) scored eight, dishing out two assists.
KEY STATS
Limiting errors, Pacific won the turnover battle 6-19.
The Waves grabbed more defensive boards (32) than the Tigers (28).
More accurate beyond the arc, Pepperdine hit six from three while Pacific only netted four.

Mashaire was the first to strike in the game for either squad for an early 2-0 Pepperdine lead in the first quarter. Sotell scored the next points with a three, making that 12 games in a row with a three for the freshman. Two added points via free throws by senior
Makena Mastora (Alameda, Calif.) made it 7-0 Waves with just under two minutes gone.
The Tigers returned the favor, going on their own 7-0 run to tie the game up. Sotell netted the next five for the Waves. Pacific went on a run for the final three minutes of the first quarter and with ten minutes gone in the game, it was 12-18 with the visitor holding the advantage.
Pacific continued on a tear, opening up the second quarter on a 6-0 run. Senior
Ella Brubaker (University Place, Wash.) ended the scoring drought with a three, followed by Harkey's first points of the night. With two threes, Brubaker had six of the Waves' eight points of the second quarter. Pepperdine found themselves in foul trouble as Sotell, senior

Megan Harkey (Summerfield, N.C.) all had two by the end of the second quarter. Pacific led 31-20 at the half.
The scoring drought continued for Pepperdine into the third quarter. With two baskets and three points from the charity line, Pacific was locked down on defense to hold the Waves to another eight-point quarter. Two baskets from distance aided the Tigers in a 17-point quarter, increasing the deficit to 20 with one quarter to go.
Although Pepperdine outscored Pacific 15-10 in the final ten minutes, it was not enough to overcome the Tigers' lead. Senior
Hailey Johnson (Coto de Caza, Calif.) saw her first points of the season with the only three of the quarter. Mashaire led the Waves in the fourth with five points.
Pepperdine lost the first of two matchups this season against Pacific 58-43.
