SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's soccer team swept the West Coast Conference weekly awards on the tail of upsetting #3 UCLA, the conference announced Monday.
Freshman Jillian Medvecky (Concord Township, Ohio) earned her first defensive player of the week recognition while sophomore Peyton Leonard (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) earned her first offensive player of the week.
Tallying seven saves on the week, including six against #3 UCLA, Medvecky recorded her second collegiate shutout on just her third start.
Playing all 90 minutes against both Arizona and #3 UCLA this week, Leonard scored her first goal of the season and second of her collegiate career Sunday on a header to clinch the upset. This is the sophomore's first weekly honor.
This week, the Waves travel to the east coast, taking on #23 Georgetown Thursday. Stats will be available on pepperdinewaves.com and the game will be streamed on Flo Sports.
