MALIBU, Calif. – For the fourth-consecutive year, Kaleiya Romero of the Pepperdine women's golf team garnered All-American Scholar acclaim, as released by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Monday.
Â
Romero (San Jose, Calif.) is the 14th Wave to have earned WGCA All-American Scholar honors and it is the 29th honor of its kind since 1995 for Pepperdine. She is the second player in program history to have earned the nod four-straight times, following Katherine Zhu who achieved the feat from 2015-18.Â
Â
In the classroom, Romero maintained a 3.593 grade point average while studying psychology. Last week, she earned CSC Academic All-District At-Large honors for the second time throughout her career. She is a four-time WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll 'silver' honoree and Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete. She also was named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar as a sophomore.
Â
To earn a spot on the organization's list, student-athletes must have at least a cumulative 3.5 grade-point average, be an amateur and on the team's roster through the end of the season and played in at least 50% of the school's competitive rounds during the year.
Â
Additionally, the senior is a four-time All-West Coast Conference first team selection. She's the only player in Pepperdine history to earn four-consecutive WGCA All-American Scholar and All-WCC first team nods.Â
Â
This season, she marked a 73.00 scoring average with four top-10 finishes and five top-20 finishes in her nine tournaments played, helping Pepperdine to its second-straight NCAA finals appearance and the 14th in program history overall. She finished her collegiate career with a 74.27 scoring average, which ranks 11th in the Pepperdine women's golf record books.Â
