Pepperdine Alumna Becomes NWSL Leading Scorer

MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine alumna Lynn Williams broke the National Women's Soccer League scoring record while playing for Gotham FC last weekend.
Williams scored her 79th league goal, becoming the NWSL all-time scoring leader, as Gotham FC earned a last-minute 2-1 win against the Chicago Red Stars on Sunday night. It is her third season goal in seven games, leading her team in that category in 2024.
While at Pepperdine, Williams tallied 39 goals and 24 assists through her four years in Malibu. She leads the Waves in game-winning goals at 15 and became the program's first ever first-team All-American her senior season in 2014. In the 2015 NWSL draft, she was selected sixth overall by the Western New York Flash.
She has been a key goalscorer since her rookie season with the Western New York Flash. She scored 42 goals in 81 league games and has continued her impressive goalscoring run upon joining Gotham ahead of the 2023 NWSL season. She has recorded 11 goals in 30 games played for Gotham so far. Since starting her professional career, Williams has tabbed four NWSL titles, three NWSL shields, a league MVP award, and one Golden Booth award.
Williams has also been a member of the U.S. Women's National Team, being a part of the squad that took bronze at the most recent summer Olympics in Tokyo. She also earned a spot on the 2023 Women's World Cup roster.
