SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Four members of the Pepperdine baseball team were recognized with West Coast Conference postseason awards, the league announced Tuesday, including one to the second team, two honorable mentions, and one to the all-freshman team.
Â
Senior outfielder Connor Walsh (Niceville, Fla.) received All-WCC second team, senior outfielder Connor Bradshaw (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and graduate infielder Brady Renck (Longmont, Colo.) earned All-WCC honorable mentions and freshman LHP Collin Valentine (Dallas, Texas) earned a spot on the WCC All-Freshman team.
Â
Walsh's award comes on the tail of a stellar performance this weekend in Spokane, Wash. Over the three games, Walsh had three home runs, including two in one game, averaging .583 with seven hits. With the series sweep over the Bulldogs, Walsh helped send the Waves to Vegas for the team's first WCC tournament appearance in six years. On the season, Walsh is batting a .299 with 36 RBIs. Starting all but one game, Walsh has scared 28 times in his 51 games played. Earlier this week, Walsh also earned the WCC player of the week, his first of the season.
Â
Bradshaw and Renck as a duo have consistently been the two most dangerous hitters in the Waves lineup, combining for 12 home runs on the year. Renck leads the team with five triples while Bradshaw leads the Waves with 62 hits throughout the season. Amongst all the WCC, Bradshaw lands in the top-10 in hits, doubles, and batting average. Renck was also honored March 25, earning his first WCC Player of the Week award with 10 hits on the week, including an inside-the-park home run and three doubles, averaging .625 at the plate.
Last but not least, Valentine earned a spot on the WCC All-Freshman squad for the WCC. Valentine is 1-0 off a win at California State Bakersfield. Recently, Valentine started in a pitcher's duel with the Portland Pilots where the freshman threw for 5.0 innings, only giving up one hit with no runs allowed. He is slotted to make the start for Pepperdine in the upcoming postseason game against Saint Mary's.
