Track Travels to Occidental College For Distance Carnival

MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's and women's track team will compete in the Oxy Distance Carnival & Spring Break Classic, held at Occidental College starting Saturday at 10 a.m.
For the first time this season, Pepperdine will compete with a full squad, as 39 different athletes are entered across 11 events. This weekend marks the outdoor debut for the women's team, which wrapped up indoor track season at the MPSF Indoor Championships on Feb. 25-26.

Maddy Ortman will start the day for the Waves in the 100-meter hurdles. Shortly after will be the women's 4x100-meter relay, consisting of Isabella Reyes, Mia Skuraton, Ava Maly, and Kaley Peterson.

Pepperdine will have five participants in the 100-meter dash on the women's side, including Peterson, Maly, Reyes, Skuraton, and Lexie Dellevigne. On the men's side, the Waves will be represented by Brendan Fong and school-record holder Will Watkins.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team representing the Waves will consist of Reyes, Maly, Ortman, and Dellevigne. On the men's side of the same event, Fong, Watkins, Lannen and Hemphill are entered in the event.

In the 800-meter dash, Caroline Graham, Avery Smith, Kayla Renner, Caroline Fleenor, and Hannah Miller will make their outdoor season debuts in the event. The men will have six participants including school-record holder Hemphill, who will be joined by Ryan Fabian, Fong, Joshua Bergers, Lannen, and Daniel Whitaker.

The distance crew of Abby Winter, Hannah Bruner, and Ashley Eagan will run in the 1,500-meter run, while Gordon Nilsen, Spencer Mueller, Kaleb McElfish, Henry Hicks, and Elias Spence will be running for the men.

Wrapping up the day for the Waves will be the 5,000-meter run. Elle Shrader, Megan LaCamera, Eden Mittelsdorf, Lacey Reedy, Brooke Bakken and Renee Skiera will be running for the women. Dominic Silhol, Johnathan Flint, and Patrick Thomas will be running for the men.
