MALIBU, Calif. — The #3 Pepperdine women's tennis team swept San Francisco in a convincing, 7-0 rout at the Olympic Tennis Club on Thursday afternoon.
All six Pepperdine players won in straight sets in singles play, while both doubles teams won their matches up a break or more over their USF counterparts. With the win, the Waves (11-3, 2-0 West Coast Conference) have won 74 straight WCC matches. Pepperdine is now 2-0 in WCC play, while the Dons (3-9, 0-1 WCC) are winless after their conference opener.
In doubles, Jasmine Conway and Lisa Zaar extended their win streak to seven with their 6-2 win over Azaria Hayes and Katerina Filip. Playing at the first position, Nikki Redelijk and Vivian Yang clinched the doubles point for the Waves with their 6-3 win over Erin Richardson and Hana Gamracy.
The story was similar in singles play. Of Pepperdine's six straight-set wins, two of them were 6-0, 6-0 shutouts thanks to #58 Janice Tjen's win over Gamracy at the second position, then #99 Redelijk's victory over Azaria Hayes. After Tjen put Pepperdine up 2-0 with her win, Yang improved to 2-0 in WCC play with her 6-1, 6-1 win over Alicia Yue at the fifth position. At the third position, #86 Anna Campana clinched the match with her 6-0, 6-1 victory over Erin Richardson.
From there, the rest of the matches were played out. Conway's 6-1, 6-3 win over Julia Visaya and #6 Zaar's 6-1, 7-6 (2) victory over Katerina Filip on court one capped off the 7-0 sweep.
