Broadus Wins Back-to-Back Gold Medals with Team USA at Master’U BNP Paribas Championship

MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine women's tennis senior Savannah Broadus and Team USA won the nation's fifth-consecutive gold medal by beating Great Britain 4-1 in the final match at the Master'U BNP Paribas Championship in Reims, France on Sunday.

Over the three-day event, dubbed the "World Event of University Tennis," Broadus won two singles matches and two doubles matches to help Team USA win its 12th championship title at the event. Throughout the tournament, Broadus was a key contributor on an all-star cast that featured some of the world's best collegiate tennis players, including Sebastian Gorzny (Texas), Amelia Honer (UCSB), Mary Stoiana (Texas A&M), Gavin Young (Michigan), and 2024 NCAA Singles Champion Michael Zheng (Columbia).

In the final match, Broadus beat Eliz Maloney in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 to help give Team USA a 3-1 lead. Gorzny and Young clinched the match for the Americans in doubles by beating Baylor's Finn Bass and South Carolina's James Story 7-5, 6-2.

With the win, Broadus is the second Wave to win back-to-back gold medals at this event, joining Pepperdine great Ashley Lahey, who achieved that feat in 2017 and 2018.

Earlier in the tournament, Broadus won her quarterfinal singles match to help Team USA rout Germany 6-1. The Pepperdine senior beat Gina-Marie Dittmann, who attends NC State, 6-1, 6-4, then she teamed up with UC Santa Barbara All-American Amelia Honer to win their doubles match 6-1, 6-1.

No stranger to doubles success, Pepperdine's all-time winningest doubles player teamed up with Honer to win their semifinal doubles match against France. In their closest match of the tournament, Broadus and Honer beat Lucie Nguyen Tan and UCF's Marie Mattel 8-5 to help Team USA win 5-1 and advance to the final match.

This year, Team USA was coached by Washington's Robin Stephenson and Harvard's Andrew Rueb, marking the first time in over a decade that legendary Boise State head coach Greg Patton didn't coach the Americans.
