MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine University Athletics Department has tied its record high for Graduation Success Rate (GSR), which the NCAA released publicly on Wednesday.
The Waves boast an overall GSR rate of 95 percent, better than the national average of 91 percent. The newest GSR data covers student-athletes that enrolled between 2014 and 2018.
The Waves also reached 95 percent for the 2013-17 cohorts, which was released last year.
In the state of California, Pepperdine sits fourth behind only Santa Clara (99), Stanford (98 GSR) and San Francisco (97 GSR). In fact, all of the WCC members in the state hold the top six out of seven spots.
Ten of the Waves' programs had 100 percent GSR rates for this period:
- Men's cross country and track
- Men's golf
- Men's volleyball
- Men's water polo
- Women's cross country and track
- Women's golf
- Women's swim and dive
- Women's soccer
- Women's tennis
- Women's volleyball
All ten of those programs maintained a 100 percent rate from the previous report.
The NCAA began compiling these figures with the entering freshman class of 1995 and developed the GSR in order to more accurately assess the academic success of student-athletes. The GSR includes transfer students and removes student-athletes who leave in good academic standing. The GSR measures graduation rates over six years from initial college enrollment.
