Waves Host UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego in Double Dual Meet This Saturday

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's swim program is set to host UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool on Saturday afternoon in a double dual meet.

UC SANTA BARBARA — The Gauchos won their only dual meet of the year in a dominant performance over Cal Poly in early October.

UC SAN DIEGO — The Tritons are 2-1 in dual meets this year with wins over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and UC Davis. Their lone loss came against California.

SEATING — Admission to all Pepperdine home swim & dive meets is free. Because of limited bleacher seating, fans may choose to bring a blanket or chair to sit on the hillside. Fans can park in the Firestone Fieldhouse lot. Parking may be limited and guests are advised to arrive early.

AWARDS — The Waves have tallied two conference weekly awards this season. Most recently, Alexandra Browne garnered the MPSF Athlete of the Week on October 29. Prior to the award, Browne won all four of her events in Pepperdine's dual meet against Westmont at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool. She helped the Waves 400 medley and 200 free relay teams take first, while also winning both of her individual races.

Vivian Vallely earned the MPSF Athlete of the Week award on October 8. Highlighted by her second-place finish with a score of 283.50 in the 3-meter competition on Friday, Vallely qualified for NCAA Zones in the event for the second year in a row. She then earned another second place as she totaled 254.95 points in the 1-meter competition on Saturday.

LAST TIME IN THE POOL — The Waves last competed three weekends ago where they defeated the Westmont Warriors 194-75 at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool. Pepperdine swimmers won 13 of the 14 events as AJ Adams, Alexandra Browne, Lindsay Hemming and Charli Sunahara all won two events, while Mollie Cho, Natalie Do and Ansley Halbach each won one event.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN — The Waves return all three of their All-MPSF second team honorees from last year: Alexandra Browne (50 free), Kylie Taylor (100 back) and Amanda Wong (Platform). Pepperdine also boasts three swimmers who currently hold individual records - Browne (50 free, 100 IM), Taylor (100 back) and Lexi Haymart (500 free). Additionally, the team brings back everyone from last year's record-setting 200 free and 800 free relay teams in Browne, Layla Busquets, Anna Ryan, Taylor, AJ Adams, Lexi Fok, Ansley Halbach and Lindsay Hemming. The complete breakdown of the roster is seven seniors, fourteen juniors, eight sophomores and five freshman, which includes 28 returners and six newcomers.Â
