MALIBU, Calif. – Fresh off a first-place finish at the fourth annual
Rodionoff Invite, the Pepperdine women's swim and dive program is set to hit the road for the first time this year as the Waves travel to Bakersfield, Calif. this weekend.
Pepperdine will compete at the CSUB Sprint Classic on Friday and the Roadrunner Invite on Saturday.

Meet #4 — Roadrunner Invite | Saturday, Oct. 12 | 10 a.m. | Hillman Aquatic Center | Bakersfield, Calif.
CSUB SPRINT CLASSIC — Teams the Waves will be competing against include host Cal State Bakersfield, Denver, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, UC Davis and San Jose. There will also be women's 3-meter diving on Friday afternoon.
ROADRUNNER INVITE — Pepperdine will be competing against Cal State Bakersfield, Denver, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, UC Davis and San Jose. Women's 1-meter diving will also take place on Saturday.
ONLINE — There will be no live streams for either day of competition, however live results will be available on the Meet Mobile App on both days (subscription required - $).
AWARDS — Vivian Vallely earned the MPSF Athlete of the Week award on October 8. Highlighted by her second-place finish with a score of 283.50 in the 3-meter competition on Friday, Vallely qualified for NCAA Zones in the event for the second year in a row. She then earned another second place as she totaled 254.95 points in the 1-meter competition on Saturday.
LAST TIME IN THE POOL — Highlighted by
Vivian Vallely (Newport Beach, Calif.) qualifying for NCAA Zones in the 3-meter for the second year in a row, the Waves earned a first-place finish at the fourth annual Rodionoff Invite last weekend. Pepperdine accumulated 340 points over the two days of competition to help the Waves take home the victory over Utah Tech, San Diego and California Baptist.
The Waves won two individual events and took second in five individual races last weekend. Continuing her dominance in sprints,
Alexandra Browne (Arlington, Va.) won the 100 free and the 50 free.
AJ Adams (Castle Rock, Colo.),
Ansley Halbach (Watkinsville, Ga.),
Mollie Cho (Frisco, Texas) and
Layla Busquets (Diablo, Calif.) all earned second-place finishes over the weekend - Adams in the 200 back and 400 IM, Halbach in the 500 free, Cho in the 200 breast and Busquets in the 100 back. Pepperdine also won the 400 free relay and the 200 free relay.
ROSTER BREAKDOWN — The Waves return all three of their All-MPSF second team honorees from last year:
Alexandra Browne (50 free),
Kylie Taylor (100 back) and
Amanda Wong (Platform). Pepperdine also boasts three swimmers who currently hold individual records - Browne (50 free, 100 IM), Taylor (100 back) and
Lexi Haymart (500 free). Additionally, the team brings back everyone from last year's record-setting 200 free and 800 free relay teams in Browne,
Layla Busquets,
Anna Ryan, Taylor,
AJ Adams,
Lexi Fok,
Ansley Halbach and
Lindsay Hemming. The complete breakdown of the roster is seven seniors, fourteen juniors, eight sophomores and five freshman, which includes 28 returners and six newcomers.
