Waves Unbeaten in Sunday's ITA Regionals Matches

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Across the main draws and consolation draws, the Pepperdine women's tennis team posted a perfect 8-0 record on the fourth day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Regionals in San Diego on Sunday.

Highlighting the doubles action was #24 Savannah Broadus and Vivian Yang, who earned a spot in the semifinals after beating CSUN's Angela Ho and Yulia Zhytelna 8-6 in the quarterfinals. Playing in their maiden tournament as a duo, Broadus and Yang are two wins away from earning an NCAA bid. Tomorrow morning, they will face #28 Ahmani Guichard and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer of UCLA for a spot in the doubles championship at 10 a.m. Guichard and Lutkemeyer will be the highest-ranked team the Waves duo has faced all year.

Elsewhere in the main draw, Broadus picked up her first ranked win of the tournament with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over #124 Sara Svetac of Arizona State in the quarterfinals. Broadus' next opponent in the singles draw is a familiar face: #89 Kailey Evans of San Diego. Although the pair squared off in doubles back in 2022, this will be the first matchup between the West Coast Conference rivals. The match is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

In the consolation matches, Liam Oved picked up her second win over a ranked opponent with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over #110 Ahmani Guichard of UCLA. The true freshman from Israel leads all Waves newcomers with two ranked singles wins. In other consolation singles action, Duru Söke, Taylor Goetz and Alexia Harmon all won in straight sets.

Both Pepperdine doubles teams in the consolation draw were also victorious. Goetz and Söke got back to their winning ways with a 6-2 win over Long Beach State's Thea Jagare and Pamela Badillo Hernandez, while Harmon and Oved beat San Diego's Hannah Read and Kristina Nordikyan 6-4 in an all-WCC matchup.

Tomorrow's main draw action starts with Broadus and Yang's doubles match at 10 a.m. Singles play will follow. Consolation matches will also continue throughout the tournament.
