Waves Begin 2024-25 Campaign This Week

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's swim and dive program begins its 2024-25 campaign with a home meet against San Diego State on Thursday before hosting the fourth annual Rodionoff Invite on Friday and Saturday.

Meet #1 — Pepperdine vs. San Diego State | Thursday, Oct. 3 | 10:30 a.m. | Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool | Malibu, Calif.

Meet #2 — Rodionoff Invite | Friday, Oct. 4 - Saturday, Oct. 5 | 10 a.m. | Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool | Malibu, Calif.

SAN DIEGO STATE — Swimming will start at 10:30 a.m., and 1-meter diving will follow. This season, the Aztecs are 2-0 in dual meets with both wins coming against the San Diego Toreros.

RODIONOFF INVITE — Diving starts at 10 a.m., while swimming takes place at 11:30 a.m. both days.

Teams competing with the Waves at the Division I level in the Rodionoff Invite include San Diego, Utah Tech and California Baptist. Non-DI programs also making the trip to Malibu include Concordia, Azusa Pacific, Biloa, Westmont, Cal Lutheran and Pomona-Pitzer.

The meet will be scored separately with the Division I teams being scored in one division, while the non-DI teams will be scored in another division.

SEATING — Admission to all Pepperdine home swim & dive meets is free. Because of limited bleacher seating, fans may choose to bring a blanket or chair to sit on the hillside. Fans can park in the Firestone Fieldhouse lot. Parking may be limited and guests are advised to arrive early.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN — The Waves return all three of their All-MPSF second team honorees from last year: Alexandra Browne (50 free), Kylie Taylor (100 back) and Amanda Wong (Platform). Pepperdine also boasts three swimmers who currently hold individual records - Browne (50 free, 100 IM), Taylor (100 back) and Lexi Haymart (500 free). Additionally, the team brings back everyone from last year's record-setting 200 free and 800 free relay teams in Browne, Layla Busquets, Anna Ryan, Taylor, AJ Adams, Lexi Fok, Ansley Halbach and Lindsay Hemming. The complete breakdown of the roster is seven seniors, fourteen juniors, eight sophomores and five freshman, which includes 28 returners and six newcomers.Â
