MALIBU, Calif. — After clinching Pepperdine's 4-0 sweep over LSU to send the women's tennis team to Seattle for the ITA Division I National Women's Team Indoor Championship, Lisa Zaar was named the West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week on Tuesday.
This WCC Singles Player of the Week Award is Zaar's second of the season and the fifth of her career.
Last Saturday against LSU's #56 Kinaa Graham, Zaar beat the star freshman 6-0, 6-4 on the first position to clinch the match against the Tigers. The win gives Zaar a 3-1 record against ranked singles opponents this year.
All told, Zaar went 1-0 in singles during the ITA Kickoff Weekend, yet she was up 6-1, 4-1 in her match against San Diego State's Yasmine Kabbaj before Savannah Broadus clinched the match against the Aztecs.
The #6 Waves, who head to #3 Oklahoma State this Friday, have a 2-0 record thanks to two 4-0 sweeps.
