WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's golf team got the spring season underway Monday at par-71, 6,800-yard North Ranch Country Club, finishing the first round of the Waves-hosted Southwestern Invitational tied for sixth with a team score of 284.
Mahanth Chirravuri and
Brady Siravo led the squad with 1-under 70's to open the tournament, each tying for 16
th. Texas Tech is leading the pack after shooting a 7-under 277, while USC and UNLV are close behind with a 6-under 278 and 5-under 279 respectively. The Rebels' Caden Fioroni leads the individuals after having shot an impressive 9-under 62.
PLAYER SCORES
- Sophomore Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton HS/USC) finished tied for 16th with a score of 70. He marked three birdies, including a pair back-to-back on holes 11 and 12. Â
- Sophomore Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit HS) marked a score of 70 to finish tied for 16th. He closed out the front nine with a birdie to remain even at the turn, but posted another pair of birdies with only one bogey on the back nine.
- Sophomore Joshua Koo (Cerritos, Calif./Cerritos HS/Washington) finished tied for 34th with a first round total of 72. After a tough start on the first two holes, Koo battled back without a bogey the rest of the day. He picked up a pair of birdies on holes 14 and 15 to finish strong.
- Freshman Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas/The Village School) also finished tied for 34th with a score of 72. He picked up a birdie on the 12th hole and posted 15 other bogeyless holes.
- Freshman William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif./Junipero Serra HS) is tied for 61st after finishing with a 75 on the first day. He posted a pair of birdies on holes 12 and 15. Â

The Waves will tee off the 10
th hole tomorrow beginning at 8:22 a.m. PT. Pepperdine will be paired with Texas and Ohio State for the second round as well.
