Pepperdine Hosts Azusa Pacific for Senior Day

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's swim and dive program will host Azusa Pacific on Saturday, Jan. 27 in the final home dual meet of the season. Saturday will also be senior day where the Waves will honor their three seniors.

The Pepperdine swim and dive program will compete against Azusa Pacific in the final home meet of the year. The Waves are 4-0 all time against the Cougars with their last win coming in the 2022-2023 season. The meet will commence at 10 a.m. with the 3-meter and 1-meter diving competitions. Swimming will take place after the conclusion of the diving competition.

Three seniors - Ellie Hendren, Anna Johnson and Tay Thomas will be honored on Saturday as well. The ceremony will take place after the conclusion of the diving competition.

WATCH/ONLINE — The meet will be streamed on Overnght (subscription required), and a link will be provided on PepperdineWaves.com. Admission to the event is free. Because of limited bleacher seating, fans may choose to bring a blanket or chair to sit on the hillside. Fans can park in the Firestone Fieldhouse lot. Parking is limited, so plan to arrive early.

LAST TIME IN THE POOL — The Waves last competed in two double dual meets last weekend. In the first double dual meet, Pepperdine dropped a contest 109-98 to San Diego State, but earned a win over Loyola Marymount as the Waves defeated the Lions 147-38. Four Waves took the top spot in their event. In the 100 free, Eleanor Mashkovich (Calabasas, Calif./Westlake HS) clocked a time of 53.51. AJ Adams (Castle Rock, Colo./Valor Christian HS) swam the 100 back in 58.60. In the 500 free, Ansley Halbach (Watkinsville, Ga./North Oconee HS) earned a time of 5:17.06. Sydney Abild (Holyoke, Mass./Northampton HS) notched a time of 1:06.51 in the 100 breastroke.

In the second double dual meet against San Diego and LMU, the Waves wrapped up the weekend with a 426-397 loss to San Diego and a 533-230 win against PCH Cup rival Loyola Marymount. Pepperdine swimmers earned a first-place finish in six events. Layla Busquets (Diablo, Calif./Monte Vista HS) swam the 100 fly in 58.24. In the 400 IM, AJ Adams (Castle Rock, Colo./Valor Christian HS) clocked a time of 4:34.06. Adams also took first in the 200 back as she earned a time of 2:07.39 in the event. Sydney Abild (Holyoke, Mass./Northampton HS) finished the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.52. In the 100 back, Kylie Taylor (Eugene, Ore./Churchill HS) notched a time of 57.23. Charli Sunahara (Chino, Calif./Ruben S. Ayala HS) finished the 200 back with a time of 2:21.65.

UP NEXT — After Saturday's meet, Pepperdine will head to Santa Barbara, Calif. to compete in the UCSB Invite on Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3., which will be hosted at Dos Pueblos High School.
