Box Score 2 Providence, R.I. – The #11 Pepperdine men's water polo team (2-0) began the Bruno Classic by beating #15 Fordham 16-10. Later in the evening, they had a dominating performance against host Brown, leading to a 22-10 win.

BIG WAVES
- Sophomore attacker Adam Csapo (Budapest, Hungary) had a big debut to his second season with eight goals in the first game against Fordham, and a total of 10 goals on the day.
- Senior Center Travis Reynolds (Rolling Estates, Calif./Loyola HS) had four goals against Brown,
- Junior Center, Matty Walsh (Laguna Beach, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS) had a hat trick in the second quarter against Brown.
- Graduate goalie Antonio Knez (Dubrovnik, Croatia/Gimnazija Dubvrovnik/Princeton) got the start in both games to earn his first two wins as a wave. He also tallied 24 saves on the day.

Pepperdine and Fordham were all square 3-3 after the first quarter. Heading into the half, the Waves were up by two. The Rams started the second half with two quick goals to tie the game up at 8. However, Pepperdine was able to hold Fordham scoreless for the rest of the quarter while also finding the back of the net six times to take a six goal lead into the fourth quarter. The Waves never looked back and held on to win the game 16-10.
Adam Csapo led the way for Pepperdine with eight goals in the season opener, and a total of eight players scored against the Rams.

GAME #2 RECAP
Â
After trailing 1-0, the Waves scored two goals in less than a minute to take a 2-1 advantage. Pepperdine kept their foot on the gas and held a 5-2 lead after the first quarter.
Matty Walsh secured a hat trick in the second quarter to help the Waves lead 10-4 at the break. The Waves stifled the Bears in the third quarter only allowing them to score once, leading to a 16-5 advantage heading into the final period. Pepperdine cruised through the fourth quarter and held on to win the game 22-10. A total of twelve Waves scored in the game.
