MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine Athletics had another banner year in 2022-23, winning the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association All-Sports Trophy and accumulating many excellent performances, including NCAA runs by men's golf (quarterfinalists), women's golf (quarterfinalists) and women's tennis (round of 16) and NCAA Tournament appearances by eight teams.
-- Pepperdine finished 1st in the Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association All-Sports standings.
-- Pepperdine finished 71st in the NACDA/Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings, which was second among WCC schools.
-- Seven teams finished with top-25 national rankings (men's water polo, men's golf, women's golf, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's volleyball and beach volleyball).
-- Four teams won a total of five conference championships (women's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, women's golf).
-- Eight teams competed at NCAA Championships or NCAA Regional events (men's cross country, women's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, men's tennis, women's tennis, women's indoor volleyball, women's swimming and diving).
-- 14 student-athletes earned All-American honors.
-- Six student-athletes earned conference player of the year honors (Janice Tjen in women's tennis, Daniel De Jonge in men's tennis, Jaylen Jasper in men's volleyball, Lion Higo in women's golf, Derek Hitchner in men's golf, William Mouw in men's golf).
-- Three student-athletes were drafted by professional leagues (Max Lewis to the LA Lakers (NBA), John Peck to the Detroit Tigers (MLB) and Ryan Johnson to the Houston Astros (MLB)).
-- Two student-athletes earned other top league award (Emily Hellmuth Freshman of the Year in women's volleyball, Amanda Wong Diver of the Meet in women's swimming and diving).
-- One coach earned conference coach of the year honors (Laurie Gibbs in women's golf) and two others earned conference coach of the championship meet (Ellie Monobe Coach of the Meet in women's swimming and diving and Monique Demaisip Diving Coach of the Meet in women's swimming and diving).
-- 62 student-athletes earned all-conference honors (41 on the first team).
-- 80 student-athletes earned conference all-academic honors (47 on the first team).
-- 126 student-athletes earned a place on the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
-- 180 student-athletes earned Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete status.
-- In the NCAA Graduation Success Rate report (released November 2022), the Waves had an overall rate of 93 percent, better than the national rate of 90 percent. Eight teams had perfect 100 percent GSR rates (men's cross country and track, women's cross country and track, men's golf, women's golf, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis, men's volleyball and women's beach volleyball).
-- Ten Pepperdine teams had perfect 1,000 scores in the NCAA Academic Progress Rate data (released May 2022): baseball, men's cross country and track, men's golf, men's tennis, women's basketball, women's golf, women's soccer, beach volleyball and women's indoor volleyball.
