MALIBU, Calif. – Ten Pepperdine athletic teams earned perfect scores of 1,000 as the NCAA released its latest figures for the Academic Progress Rate.
Â
The Waves' programs posted an overall average of 990. The NCAA average is 984.
Â
The 10 teams achieving perfect scores are baseball, men's cross country, men's golf, men's tennis, men's track, women's basketball, women's golf, women's soccer, beach volleyball and women's indoor volleyball.
Â
The women's swim/dive, cross country and track teams all have streaks of nine-consecutive years at 1,000 points. Other active streaks include women's golf at seven, women's beach volleyball at six, men's track at five, women's indoor volleyball at four and women's basketball at three.
Â
Ten of Pepperdine's 17 teams finished above the national averages for their sports. Ten of the teams also equaled or surpassed their APR figures from 2020-21.Â
Â
The APR measures the academic progress of student-athletes through a team-based metric that accounts for the eligibility and retention of each student-athlete for each academic term. The current APR numbers include the averages over four years between 2018-19 and 2021-22. Teams that score less than 930 have historically been subject to penalties (a rule that has currently been suspended due to COVID-19).
