ORLANDO, Fla. — The Pepperdine women's tennis team's season came to a premature close as the top-seeded doubles team of Savannah Broadus and Janice Tjen fell 1-6, 1-6 to North Carolina's Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig on Wednesday.
For the third-straight day, the NCAA Singles and Doubles Tournament was disrupted by inclement weather in the Orlando area. The duo wrapped up the first set outdoors before a brief rain delay sent the matches indoors. Despite the venue change, the results were the same, as UNC's 11th-ranked team prevailed with another 6-1 win inside.
With Wednesday's match, Broadus (Carrollton, Texas) and Tjen (Jakarta, Indonesia) finished their 2022-23 campaign with a 33-7 overall record and an 18-6 record in dual singles play. Both players are tied for sixth on Pepperdine's all-time single-season doubles win rankings with 33 wins.
