Pepperdine Honors Seniors in Series Finale Against LMU

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine baseball team honored its seven seniors in the final home game of the season, falling 4-2 to Loyola Marymount on Sunday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

The Waves (18-28,7-17) and Lions (26-21,18-6) were tied after the fifth inning, but LMU plated the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth and grabbed an insurance run in the top of the ninth to secure the series victory.

BIG WAVES
  • Freshman designated hitter Jack Basseer (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill HS) was 2-for-3 on the day including crossing the plate once for the Waves. Basseer had the squad's only double.
  • Junior shortstop John Peck (Moorpark, Calif./Moorpark HS) was 2-for-4 on the day.
  • Senior infielder Ryan Johnson (Tempe, Ariz./Seton Catholic HS) hit his 17th home run of the season. Johnson is now tied third on the single-season all-time list with Ruben Gonzalez (1987), Dane Sardinia (2000) and former teammate Billy Cook (2021). He currently has 36 career home runs and now has sole possession of third on the all-time career list.
  • Freshman RHP Nick Bonn (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach HS) got his first collegiate start throwing a career-high 5.0 innings. Bonn only allowed three hits and struck out two Lions.
