SEATTLE, Washington – The Pepperdine men's tennis program started its week-long road trip on a high note, dispatching #51 Washington 4-2 on Wednesday night at the Nordstrom Tennis Center to round out the non-conference portion of its schedule.
Doubles were close throughout, as the teams exchanged leads on all three courts. Pepperdine (11-7) took court two to open the scoring after
Maxi Homberg (Freising, Germany) and
Eero Vasa (Turku, Finland) posted a 6-4 win. The Waves clinched the doubles point over Washington (10-6) with a 6-4 win on court three courtesy of
Linus Carlsson Halldin (Stockholm, Sweden) and
Pietro Fellin (Milan, Italy).
Singles was neck-and-neck throughout, and the Waves took four of six first sets. Washington, however, tied the match and took its first lead of the day with straight-set wins on courts three and six. Soon after, #94
Tim Zeitvogel (Baden-Baden, Germany) earned a critical 6-2, 7-6 (6) win on court two over #111 Dzianis Zharyn to tie the match at two apiece.

Daniel De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands) ground out a 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-0 win on the top court over Han-Chih Lin to give the Waves a 3-2 lead. Fellin closed out the match by defeating Jim Hendrikx 7-6 (7), 6-3 on court five to clinch Pepperdine's fifth consecutive win.
