FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Two freshmen of the Pepperdine women's swim and dive program closed out the dive portion of the Waves' season on Wednesday as
Amanda Wong and
Delainey Pisaruk competed at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships at the Weyerhaueser King County Aquatic Center.
Wong (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill HS) took 47th in the 1-meter preliminaries with a score of 191.35, while Pisaruk (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle HS) came in 50th after recording a 178.05 score.
Wong was named the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference diver of the championship meet in February after recording first and second place finishes in the 3-meter and 1-meter competitions, respectively. Pisaruk won the 1-meter competition and took third in the 3-meter event to help the Waves secure back-to-back PCSC team titles.
This is the second invitation for Pepperdine to NCAA Zones since 2012. Last season,
Lexie Martin and Paulina Homberg both participated in the 1-meter event.

Diving coach
Monique Demaisip said: "The 1-meter event today had a few more competitors than the 3-meter, so this last day at Zones was a little longer, and equally as challenging as the first. I am so proud of Amanda and Delainey for keeping up with the competition in an environment that can be easily intimidating for newcomers. Bringing two freshmen to Zones this year was such an exciting opportunity, it was great exposure for the school, and it shows that our program is on an upward trajectory. The dive season has come to a close, and we wish our swimmers the best of luck at NIC as we head home!"
